WorkSafeBC recognizes the skills and knowledge of licensed first responders and paramedics in BC. This allows EMALB license holders to receive an Occupational First Aid equivalent certificate through an out-of-jurisdiction process.

WorkSafeBC is updating the first aid competencies CSA Z1210-17 First Aid Training for the Workplace - curriculum and quality management for training agencies.

Starting November 1, 2024, WorkSafeBC will accept licenses from the Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board (EMALB) as valid first aid certificates.

Due to the new policies, we will accept applications for Occupational First Aid (OFA) from outside the region until October 15, 2024. After that date, we will no longer issue OFA certifications.
